The deadline to host EURO 2020 expired on May 15.

The final candidates are...
Azerbaijan/Georgia
Ireland/Scotland/Wales
Turkey

I'm guessing a majority on this board would favor the Celtic bid, but the thought of three nations co-hosting could hurt their chances.

Russia hosting the 2018 World Cup could put the Azerbaijan/Georgia bid in jeopardy (Eastern Europe hosting two consecutive major finals)

Turkey would appear to be the leading candidate having lost out to France by one vote for EURO 2016. But on May 23 Istanbul officially became a candidate (along with Madrid and Tokyo) to host the 2020 Olympic Games. Media reports have Istanbul as the early front runner.
IOC regulations stipulate that the winning country cannot host another major international sporting event on the same year, so if Istanbul wins Turkey must withdraw its EURO bid.
The final decision will be announced in Buenos Aires on 7 September 2013

The decision on who will host EURO 2020 is tentatively scheduled for "early 2014"

The joke going around is to let Iceland host: "If Qatar can have the World Cup why not give Iceland the EUROs.". :P

I'd love to see Ireland host the Euros, but a what a fucking mess to have to hop all around three countries (none of them sharing borders) to get to games.

Probably not now but time is on their side. Many doubted South Africa to the end but they managed to pull it off okay on the world stage.

FWIW, Azerbaijan/Georgia wanted a joint bid initially, then Azerbaijan withdrew and was on the verge of entering Baku with a 2020 Olympic bid. Georgia was set to bid alone on the EUROs but when the IOC did not select Baku as a finalist the joint EURO bid was re-established.

Would love to see us get it. How many stadiums would be needed? I'd be interested to see what we could offer besides Lansdowne Road and Croke Park. And by Ireland, is it just the Republic, or is this over 4 countries?

Turkey is full of racists so I wouldn't even consider them as a one of candidates.

Ukraine is a shite country full of rednecks who call themselvs neo-Nazis and support teams like Shakhtar where the squad is full of brazlilians... neo-nazis my ass. Group of skinny losers with some fat gay as their leader. It was bad idea to organised Euro with country who seems to still live behind Iron Curtain. Shame families of some footballers said already they won't travel to this shite hole becuase they afraid of being a victim of racist attacks.

Poland is particularly good itself.

The Celtic combination looks like a decent option with the right infrastructure. The Georgia/Azerbaijan bid looks dead in the water, but stranger things have happened, look at Qatar. Turkey would equally be a good option, but probably needs a fair amount of work to be done outside Istanbul.

The trio of joint federations forming the joint bid includes the "Football Association of Ireland" (Republic of Ireland).

The "Irish Football Association" (Northern Ireland) are not involved in the bid.

And a reminder that beginning with France 2016 the tournament expands from 16 to 24 finalists.

The joint Celtic bid must be boosted by Platini's recent comments regarding the idea of hosting the tournament in various countries across Europe.

I dont see any issue with the fact that Ireland, Wales and Scotland don't share a border, Kiev and Krakow are separated by nearly 900KM of land, I'd say it's easier to get between Cardiff, Glasgow, Dublin etc.
Get yer samba on, get yer thumb out and get to the match.

These "half wit" nations have successfully hosted major European club competition finals in the Europa League and Champions League. Croke Park is bigger than any stadium in England. The Celtic nations are well able to host a EURO tournament in my opinion.

I'm not sure of the capacity of Wembley offhand. Maybe the new one is bigger, if so then Croker is bigger than all but 1 stadium in England!
