February 2017/18 - Matchday Thread

Cunningham and Pearson will be back from suspension for this one, although DJ went off after getting whacked in the face so not sure if he will be allowed to play.

Not sure if Clarke or Gallagher will be available either as they're still recovering from knocks.

I'd be giving Moult a run out if it was up to me, with Bodin dropping to the bench and Robinson moving back out to the left.

Tough game no doubt, especially as they will be looking to bounce back from defeat.

Rudd

Fisher, Huntington, Davies, Cunningham

Browne, Pearson, Johnson

Barkhuizen, Moult, Robinson

Maxwell, Woods, Spurr, Earl, Harrop, Horgan, Bodin

Bruce need never shift Snodgrass to the left again, when you miss two of your best attacking players you don’t then hamstring the other. Jack Grealish should be back, Adomah won’t be.

If Grealish doesn’t make it, it has to be Onomah.

Johnstone, Taylor, Chester, Terry, Elmo, Bjarnason, Hourihane, Snodgrass, Grealish, Green, Grabban.

Need to win, think we’ll edge it.

Green is out. Looks like Jack might be too.

Oh fuck. Big squad yes but when all the dribblers and ball carriers are out it’ll be a long night.

Can see a loss. Really really should bring Onomah and O’Hare in.

Top of the table and it feels so good. It won’t last, but I’ll enjoy it for now. Shrewsbury 1 game in hand, 2 points behind; Wigan 2 games in hand, 3 points behind. We’ve got GD advantage on Shrewsbury but not Wigan. Them knocking City out of the FA Cup could end up having huge playoff implications.

A betting man would probably go for a draw (that's what we do), even without your wingers, you're still more than capable of grinding out a result against anyone in this league.

Would have liked to have gone to this but i've used all my holidays at work.

Will also have an eye on Bristol City v Fulham. Anything but a home win would be ok in that one.

Brentford away tonight.

Cheikh Ndoye is back from suspension so back down to 10 men with him playing. More bad news with Maikel Kieftenbeld getting a two match suspension by picking up 10 yellow cards and David Davis is unlikely to play with his knee injury.

Stockdale; Jenkinson, Dean, Roberts, Colin; Lowe, Gardner; Maghoma, Ndoye, Boga; Gallagher

Subs; Kuszczak, Morrison, Bramall, Lakin, Jota, Adams, Jutkiewicz

We will lose this and be back in the dropzone.

Fair play to Alex Neil going 442 at Villa Park, paid off so far.

Barkhuizen & Browne sound like they're having stormers, Pearson sounds like he's winning the midfield scrap.

Get another lads.

Haven't seen the penalty decision but the commentators were shocked about it.

Please tell me we haven't been bummed out of 2pts yet again.

Just seen the decision, Christ, that would be fucking laughable if it hasn't just cost us 2pts, they don't get softer than that.

You're not telling me referees don't favour the bigger clubs in home games at times, no chance we would get that decision at the other end.

Ipswich at home on Saturday, the return of Lord Garner who will be in full bastard mode no doubt.

Need to win, no two ways about it.

Same team for me, although if DJ or Gally are fully fit then I could see them coming in for Moult.

Fisher is suspended so Woods will come in I would think.

Rudd

Woods, Huntington, Davies, Cunningham

Bodin, Pearson, Browne, Barkhuizen

Moult, Robinson

I was reasonably pleased with the point considering we were trailing at half time. Made big changes with Davis and Grabban replacing Hourihane and Snodgrass (ill) at half time. Really like the look of Grabban.

We have to cope better losing a couple of players, the system was all wrong though players didn’t have a clue what was going on. Need to improve on Saturday, my return to Hillsbrough after our first ever Championship game at the start of last season.

Adomah at least should be back, which would make a big difference.

Johnstone, Hutton, Chester, Terry, Elmo, Onomah, Tuanzebe, Bjarnason, Adomah, Snodgrass, Grabban.

I would have put O’Hare in but I know Bruce has been reluctant so far, ridiculous as he is literally a mini Jack Grealish and he’d be the perfect replacement. Hepburn-Murphy can play out wide of necessary to but we end up with Whelan on the bench.

Barnsley at home tomorrow, definitely a huge six pointer and a match we MUST win, anything else and we will looking to be favourites on getting relegated.

David Davis is once again out with a knee injury and Maikel Kieftenbeld is serving his final suspension so Cheikh Ndoye will continue to somehow play so we might as well play 10 players.

Stockdale; Colin, Dean, Roberts, Bramall; Gardner, Lowe; Maghoma, Ndoye, Boga; Gallagher

Subs; Trueman, Morrison, Jenkinson, Seddon, Jota, Adams, Jutkiewicz

2-0 Barnsley.

2-0 down at half time and Steve Cotterill was escorted off the pitch by police as a fan ran down the family stand to throw a ticket towards him. Fuck off you wet gel headed cunt.

Pathetic that, worst i've seen us under Neil, could have quite easily been 4-0 down at half time.

Didn't win any of the second balls and everything just looked half-assed, no urgency, no fight, no quality.

Dominic Iorfa the best player on the pitch by a mile, he's a giant, quick but has ability too.
